SSC to enhance students’ interest and talent in writing through SAFIK

To enhance students’ interest and talent in writing, the annual Glorious Science Festival (SAFIK) is set to return on October 29 to November 3. Saseru Study Club (SSC), a student organization in Sebelas Maret University, will hold the festival with the theme “The Challenge of Millennial Generation in Facing Demographic Bonus through Indonesia’s Cultural Treasures.”

Muhammad Rifqi Yahya, the head of SAFIK committee, said “We chose the theme because we realized that millennial generation or today’s youngsters are indifferent toward their own culture. We want to raise this issue and make Indonesian culture being known among the youngsters again.”

SAFIK 2018 will consist of a total of four events; essay writing contest, short story writing contest, book bazaar, and seminar. “Both writing contest are national contest. The short story contest are targeted for high school to college students while the essay contest only for college students,” Muhammad added.

For the book bazaar, SAFIK committee has collaborated with book distributors in order to provide books from various genres.

The key event of SAFIK is on the last day of the festival (11/3) when the seminar as well as the handover of prizes, for the winners of the writing contests, be held.
